Obituary: Rosa Hurtado

Rosa Hurtado, a longtime Waukesha resident, joined her beloved husband in Heaven on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 77.

She was born in Hondo, TX, on Aug. 30, 1935, the daughter of Geronimo and Doratea (nee Rios) Monrial.  On Sept. 3, 1955, she married Juan “John” Hurtado at St. Joseph Catholic Church; he recently preceded her in death on July 25, 2013. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked for Holsum Foods, retiring after 29 years of employment.  Rosa loved traveling, dancing and bowling.  She will always be remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother and sister. 

She will be sadly missed by her four children, Diane (Bruce) Unferth of Waukesha, Mary (Thomas) Wanta of New Berlin, Venus (Doug) Cote` of Germantown and Jim Hurtado of Waukesha, her four grandchildren, Stacy (Jason) Krueger, April (Anthony) Nizinski, Chad Unferth and David Krahn and by seven great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Anita (Dale) Weyer, Ray (Beth) Monrial, Joe Monreal, Daniel Monrial and Maria (David) Ristau, her sister-in-law Vicki Herrera along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 from 4 p.m. until the time of the 7 p.m. vigil service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha.  Services continue on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home with prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha for the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass.  Father Howard Haase will preside.  Graveside services will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
