Obituary: Robert J. "Bob" Chase

Waukesha man, 87, passed away Thursday.

Robert J. “Bob” Chase, of Waukesha, was reunited with his loving wife Alma “Jane” on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at his home at the age of 87 years.

He was born in Pewaukee on Aug. 15, 1925, the son of Thomas and Agnes (nee Callaghan) Chase.  Bob was a 1943 graduated of Waukesha High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946 and was a 50-year member of the American Legion DJ Martin Post #8. He was united in marriage to Alma “Jane” O’Donnell on July 31, 1950; she preceded him in death on June 5, 2009.  Bob was a truck drive for Chase Oil Company for many years.  He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society.  Bob enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage and enjoyed watching sports, but most of all his greatest joy was his family.

He will be greatly missed by his son Peter (Marcia) Chase of Johnson Creek; his grandchildren, Robert Chase and Kristi Chase; and two great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Thomas Chase, Alice Hall, Francis Chase and Bernice Harrington.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha.  Father Bill Key will preside.  Burial with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
