Obituary: Robert D. Morris

Florida man passed away at his daughter's home in Waukesha.

Robert D. Morris, 88, of Hudson, FL, died peacefully of cancer on Feb. 24, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Waukesha, WI, where he recently resided.

He was born on July 31, 1923 to the late Louis and Elsie (nee: Becker) Morris in Akron, Ohio. He was a 1941 graduate of East High School, Youngstown, OH and graduated from Youngstown State University in 1948 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp., as a 2nd Lt. Navigator during WWII and afterward was employed at Westinghouse Elect. Corp. in Sharon, Pa. where he designed high power transformers.

After retiring in 1987 from Westinghouse he moved to Hudson, FL in 1990 with his wife to relax and enjoy the warm weather. Bob was always active in the Lutheran church and was instrumental in building the church’s website at Hope Lutheran Church. He belonged to a computer club, the Lutheran Layman’s League and was a current HAM Radio operator talking to people all over the world. His call sign was K3OTZ. Bob also enjoyed camping and boating especially at Pymatuning Lake, woodworking and computers. He was able to fix almost anything and did many home improvement projects.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Violet (nee: Antonovich) Morris whom he married on Jan. 28, 1948, in Cumberland, MD, and their children Reverend Robert (Karalee) Morris of Wellsville, NY; Susan Reed of Waukesha, WI and his grandchildren Steven Morris of Chandler, AZ, Rebekah (Michael) Milliken of South Windsor, CT, PFC Brandon Reed currently stationed at MCAS Miramar, San Diego, CA, Tyler Reed, Timothy Reed, Daniel Reed and Benjamin Reed of Waukesha; one great-grandchild, Jacob Morris of Chandler AZ. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia Morris of Campbell, OH, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Louis Morris.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, from 11 a.m. until the funeral services at noon – all at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Peter Schmidt of Beautiful Savior will preside.
