Merl Dayle George, a longtime Waukesha resident, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 86 years. He was born in Billings, Montana on January 22, 1927 the son of Harry P. and Verna (nee Sutherland) George. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On March 15, 1947 he married Margaret Joos at the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Margaret George of Waukesha and their children, Linda George of Waukesha, Georgia (Mark) McCormack of Hartland and Merl (Jodi) George II of Waukesha and by his seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jim), Bobbi (Jason), Krissy (Greg), Travis, Clinton, JoAnn (Peter) and Lauren and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 11 a.m. until the 12:45 p.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1997, Milwaukee, WI 53201.
