Obituary: Melvin L. Green

Waukesha man was a member of the reserve police unit.

Melvin L. Green, of Waukesha, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Season’s Hospice at the age of 78.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1934, in Waukesha, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (nee Murray) Green.  He was a 1953 graduate of Waukesha High School.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Red Arrow Division.  On May 28, 1955, he married the former Doris Draeger. He had worked for Eaton Corporation, retiring in 1999. For many years he was a member of Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, in Waukesha, and participated in their dart ball league and was currently a member of First Congregational Church of East Troy.

Melvin was a member of the Waukesha Police Reserve and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Walworth County.

He will be sadly missed by his children Gary (Becky) Green, Alan (Kris) Green and Todd (Lisa) Green all of Waukesha, along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He is further survived by his brother Robert Green, sisters Margaret and Charlotte (Richard) Ferrie, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his wife Doris, he was preceded in death by his son Dale and brothers William and Everett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012, from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. Memorial service at the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 413 Wisconsin Ave. Waukesha.  Private interment will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery.
