Obituary: Maurice ”Matt” Rohde

Waukesha man served country in World War II.

Maurice ”Matt” Rohde, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at the age of 89. Maurice was born in Wauwatosa on April 10, 1922, the son of Morris and Constance Rohde. He married Dorothy A. (nee Robinson) on Aug. 8, 1970. Maurice proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. Maurice and Dorothy lived for many years in Arizona where he loved to spend time on the golf course.

Maurice will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Michael Edwards of Port Washington and Jackie (Bill) Spellman of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Damberger, Colleen DiStefano, Jason Edwards, Bobbie (Cory) Rogers, Patrick (Kristy) Spellman, Jennie (Paul) Ducat, Michael (Teresa) Spellman and Amy (Luis) Rios; his great-grandchildren, Nicolle, Brittney, Leah, Olivia, CJ, Reagan, Jackson and Faith; he is further survived by his daughter, Diana and her children, John & Joe of Scottsdale, AZ; and many other family and friends. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Constance; and his son, David Edwards.

A memorial visitation for Maurice will begin at 1 p.m. with a military honors ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
