Obituary: Margarete Ann Vanden Noven

Waukesha woman died at age 78 on Thanksgiving.

Margarete Ann Vanden Noven, of Waukesha, died peacefully on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 78 years.

She was born in Sturgeon Bay on September 19, 1934 the daughter of Leo and Mary (nee Pfister) Antoine.  Margarete was raised on a farm near Sturgeon Bay and attended Corpus Christi Grade School.  She was a 1952 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School and a 1956 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

On Sept. 13, 1958 she married Rodney Vanden Noven and together they raised three children where Margarete was active in their many activities.  Margarete worked for Miller Brewing and later for Precision Screw Thread until her retirement.  In her retirement she loved to travel with her husband, especially to Florida.  She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she belonged to the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Study Club.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 54 years, Rodney of Waukesha and their children: Mary (John) Dietz of Woodbury, MN, Steven (Marnie) Vanden Noven of Franklin, TN and Robert (Michelle) Vanden Noven of Shorewood, her two grandchildren: Steven and Sophia Vanden Noven of Franklin, TN and her step-grandson Thomas Dietz of South Bend, IN. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Carol “Sue” (Robert) Populorum of Wheaton, IL along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her siblings: Vince Antoine, Mary Antoine, Rose Antoine, Irene Wilson and Leo Antoine and her parents.

Visitation was held Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha (Corner of Hartwell and Newhall Avenues). The funeral Mass was held Monday at the church.  Reverend Howard Haase will presided. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
