Obituary: LeRoy Wellner

Brookfield man, 74, loved Packers, Nascar and camping with his wife.

LeRoy Wellner, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 74.

LeRoy was born on Oct. 5, 1937, in Wild Rose, WI, to Henry and Mary (nee Williams) Wellner. He married Evelyn (nee Whittenberger) on Dec. 21, 1957. LeRoy worked for 44 years at Ambrosia Chocolate. LeRoy was an avid hunter. He enjoyed camping with his wife and gambling at the casinos. LeRoy always looked for hidden treasures at rummage sales and was an expert bargainer. He worked on old cars whenever he had the chance. LeRoy was a Packers fan and loved watching Nascar. He was very outspoken and was known to speak his mind.

LeRoy will be missed dearly by his wife, Evelyn; his children, Dave (Liz) Wellner of Waukesha, Scott Wellner of Waukesha, and Mark Wellner of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Timothy (Tracy) Wellner, Mike Wellner, Adam Wellner and Brittney Wellner; his two great-granddaughters, Ella and Madeline; his sisters, Arlene Shulta of Milwaukee and Alice Koepsel of Weywauwega; and many other family and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Margaret Priebe, Evelyn Wilke, and Thelma Anderson; his brother, Arthur Wellner; and his grandson, Travis Wellner.

A visitation for LeRoy will be from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Thomas Griffey will be officiating.

The family would also like to ask those who knew LeRoy to dress casual for the service on Monday as those would be his wishes.
