Obituary: Leona Albrecht (nee Lueder)

Waukesha woman, who died at age 96, will not have a funeral service, per her wishes.

Leona Albrecht (nee Lueder), of Waukesha, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at Clement Manor on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the age of 96.

Leona was born in Fort Atkinson on Oct. 24, 1915, the daughter of Arnold and Emma (nee Gehrke) Lueder. She married Clarence “Sam” Albrecht on Aug. 21, 1936. Leona was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha and she was very active in the Waukesha Senior Center. She loved to play cards, especially the game of Sheepshead. Leona loved her children and grandchildren more than anything.

Leona will be dearly missed by her children, Carole (Tom) Hoover of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bonnie (Joanne Nelson) Albrecht of Studio City, California and John (Joann) Albrecht of Reno, Nevada; her grandchildren, Ben and Lydia of Reno, Nevada and Tracy Albrecht of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and many other family and friends. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her daughter, Donna; and her son, David.

In honor of Leona’s wishes, no services will be held.

Memorials are appreciated by Leona’s family to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County (HAWS), 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
