Obituary: Joseph “Joe” L. Hernandez

Joseph “Joe” L. Hernandez, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 61 years. 

He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 1, 1952 the son of Victor  Hernandez and Ponciana Lugo.   On June 25, 1977 he married Siri Synneva Nuland in Des Plaines, IL; she preceded him in death on August 26, 2012.

Joe had a passion for music and enjoyed playing guitar where he played in many different bands.  He loved a good joke and was a big jokester.  Joe was very spiritual and had a huge heart of gold.  He loved his grandchildren more than anything and will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. 

He will be sadly missed by his children: Elisa Claire Camargo of Waukesha, Rachel Elaine Hernandez of Greenfield, Anne Elizabeth Rivera of Waukesha, Michael Joseph Hernandez of Waukesha and Joseph Hernandez Jr. of Waukegan, IL, his mother Ponciana Lugo of Chicago, his grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Camargo, Isabel Reyna Camargo, Miguel Angel Camargo Jr., Anthony Michael Westerhausen, Dominic Matthew Westerhausen, Joey Hernandez, Julian Rico Hernandez and Gianna Unique Hernandez.  He is further survived by his mother-in-law Barbara Nuland of Brookfield, his half sister Stella Cox of Laredo, Texas along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Siri, he was preceded in death by his father Victor, his father-in-law Dr. Stanley Nuland, his brother Victor Enrique Hernandez and his infant sister Maria Ponciana.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 11:00AM until the time of the 1:00PM funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha.  Reverend Howard Haase will preside.  Burial will be held at 3:00PM at Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery in Deerfield, Wisconsin.  If desired, memorials are appreciated to the charity of the donor’s choice.
