Obituary: Janett R. Maier

Waukesha woman dies at age 83.

Janett R. Maier, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at Seasons Hospice on Aug. 16, 2012, at the age of 83 years.

Janett was born in Neillsville on June 24, 1929, the daughter of John E. and Nellie (nee Bryan) Roder. Janett married Martin Maier on Aug. 1, 1953. She was an active member of the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha where she was a Sunday school teacher. Janett was also the superintendent of the fifth- and sixth-grade department at the church for more than 14 years.

She was an elementary school library aide for many years within the Waukesha Public School System. Janett was also involved in 4-H for many years. She was a leathercraft project leader. Having served on many 4-H boards and committees, Janett was the recipient of the 4-H Ruby Pin for her many years of dedication. Janett’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Janett will be dearly missed by her husband, Martin Sr.; her children, William (Jane) Maier of Brookfield and Martin Maier Jr. of Milwaukee; her grandchildren, Jessica Lambert and Michael Maier; her great-grandchildren, Brent and Garrett; her brothers, John (Shirley) Roder of Waukesha and Roger (Jackie) Roder of Waukesha; her twin sister, Jeannine Prager of Waukesha; her sisters, Ruth Ruddock of Waukesha and Patricia Karl of Junction City; and many other family and friends. Janett was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Walter and Wendell Roder.

A visitation for Janett will be from 12:30 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 413 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Reverend James Gorman will officiate the service. A private family burial for Janett will be held at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Pewaukee.
