Obituary: Elvira Calvano

Waukesha woman was a member of St. William Catholic Church.

Elvira Calvano, of Waukesha, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the Virginia Health and Rehab. Center at the age of 92.

She was born on July 22, 1919, in Waukesha, the daughter of Cristofaro and Filomena (nee Mattarocci) Forte. She was a graduate of Waukesha High School. On July 22, 1939 she married Thomas A. Calvano at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the St. Joseph Elders. She became a member of St. William Catholic Church in the 1970s and belonged to the St. William Christian Mothers.  For 28 years she worked at Sentry Foods in Waukesha.

She will be sadly missed by her children Mary (nee Calvano) Bartlett, Tom (Peggy) Calvano, Jr. and Dan (Riki) Calvano; grandchildren Chris (Ann) Bartlett, Bill (Jill) Bartlett, Nick (Bridget) Calvano and Tina (Michael) Briley; great-grandchildren Lindsay Bartlett, Paige and Paxton Bartlett and Dominic and Britty Calvano; sister Flora Esser; nieces Clarice (Richard) Lyles, Emilie Calvano, Mary Edna Calvano, Eleanor Jaquet and Alice Forte; nephews Robert Calvano, Richard (Suzanne), John (Sharon) Moretti and Orie Moretti; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Calvano, Sr., sisters Mary (nee Forte) Moretti and Helen Forte and brothers Daniel, Dominic, Edward, John and Tony Forte.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 4 p.m. until the 7:30 p.m. vigil Service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.  Services continue at the funeral home on Thursday, March 1, with prayers beginning at 9:45 a.m. followed by the procession to St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha for the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside services will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
