Obituary: Elsie Marie (nee DeGroot) Schilt

Waukesha woman passed away Saturday.

Elsie Marie (nee DeGroot) Schilt, has completed life's journey and has gone home to be with Jesus. She was born on Oct. 13, 1914, and entered eternal life on May 4, 2013.

Elsie was born in Doon, Iowa.  In 1937, she married Marinus Schilt and in 1951, they moved to the Grand Rapids, MI area where they were long-time members of Grace Reformed Church in Wyoming, MI.    In 2007, Elsie moved to Waukesha, WI to be near her son, Marvin and his family.  Elsie will be remembered for her love for the Lord and her family as well as her sacrificial service to her family and extended family.

Elsie is survived by her sons, Marvin (Dolores) Schilt and Gary (Jeanne) Schilt; granddaughters, Sharon (Ron) LaMar , Barbara (Eric) Janssen, Pamela (Neil) Weinkauf, Christy (Jim) Deines, Cathy (Joe) Richardson , and Cynthia (Scott) Holmes; great-grandchildren, Adam and Lauren LaMar, Jacob Janssen, Sam and Riley Weinkauf, Michael and Allie Deines, Alex, Andrew, and Natasha Richardson, Caitlyn and Emma Holmes; great-great-granddaughter, Ava Mary-Claire LaMar; her brother, Harold (Arlene) DeGroot,  as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marinus Schilt, her parents, Harry and Mary DeGroot,  her brother, Abel DeGroot, her sisters, Mary Alice DeGroot, Sally Tal and Ann Atkinson, brothers-in-law, Al Bartman, Gene Tal and Jim Atkinson, sister-in-law, Connie Lokus, nephew, Jerry Dykstra, and granddaughter, Michelle Schilt.

The visitation for Elsie will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Cesarz, Charapata, & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Boulevard, Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Roger Ellis will be officiating.

A second service will be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan with Interment at Grandville Cemetery, Grandville, Michigan.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elsie may be made to AngelsGrace Hospice, W359 N7430 Brown Street, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin 53066.
