Obituary: David W. 'Bill' Greene

Pewaukee man, a World War II veteran, received Million Mile award from U.S. Post Office.

David W. “Bill” Greene, of  Pewaukee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at the age of 88.

Bill was born in Freemont, Illinois on Aug. 28, 1923, the son of Edwin and Gladys Greene. He was a member of St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church in Pewaukee. Bill worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was the recipient of the Million Mile award. He enjoyed golfing and watching the Packers and Brewers play.  His greatest joy was his family. Bill will always be remembered for his loving and gentle demeanor. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Bill will be dearly missed by his daughters, Cheryl (John) Sumpter, Angela (Ronald) Smith, Chris (David) Prohaska and Linda (Barry) Martin; grandchildren, Chris (Kyle), Nick, Trish (Joe),Tony, Michael (Kathrine), Katelyn (Brian) and Catherine; and dearest great-grandchildren, Brady, Meghan, Abbi, Brandon, Cassie, Max, Ethan, Maddie, and Julie; step-grandchildren, Grant (Julie), Ashley and Tara; brothers, Richard (Nancy) and Paul (Judy); sister, Harriet, Bill is further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, grandson, Andy, great-granddaughter, Joci, parents, brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of River Hills West for the wonderful care given to Bill.

A private Mass of Christian will be held at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, Pewaukee.  The Reverend Anthony Zimmer will be officiating. Private interment with full Military Honors will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Pewaukee.
