Obituary: Connie M. Powers

Town of Brookfield woman dies at age 85.

Connie M. Powers, of the Town of Brookfield, went home to the Lord and her beloved husband on January 10, 2013 at the age of 85.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in Mazomaine, WI, the daughter of Jake and Gwen (nee Rogers) Baumgartner.  On June 9, 1947, she married Ivan Powers, in Dubuque, IA, he preceded her in death on August 23, 1986.  She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church for 43 years and was very involved in United Methodist Women and served in various positions on the board.  She also served on Salem’s Church Council, went to weekly bible study and participated in various volunteer activities, such as, Christmas caroling to shut ins, the Crop Walk and Food Pantry.  She had also been a girl scout co-leader of her daughter’s Brownie and Jr. Girl Scout Troops.  Connie was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Connie is survived by her three children Cheryl (Mary Ann Cisewski) of Appleton, Mary Jo (Tim) Blenker of Pewaukee and Richard (Diane) Powers of St. Charles, MO.  Dear grandmother to Jason (fiancée Jennifer Perry) Powers of Wentzville, MO, Dr. Michelle (Eric) Phillips of Glendale, MO and Randy Blenker of Breckenridge, CO.  Loving great-grandmother of Addison, Ethan and Eva Phillips all of Glendale, MO and Jace Powers of Wentzville, MO.  Further survived by her sister Betty Jo (Phil) Powers of Madison; sisters-in-law Carole Baumgartner, Shirley (Don) Jochman, Doris Allen and Barb Powers; brother-in-law Marvin (Connie) Powers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, father and mother-in-law Orson and Margaret Powers, brothers Roger and Leonard Baumgartner, sister-in-law Betty Louise Powers, brothers-in-law Don Powers and Gordon Allen, a niece and two nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.  Visitation continues on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Salem United Methodist Church, 541 Hwy 59, Waukesha, WI  53186.  The Rev. Jorge Luis Mayorga presiding.  Graveside services will follow at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.  Memorials are appreciated to Salem United Methodist Church (address above) or PKD Foundation, P.O.
