Obituary: Barbara W. Nevins

Waukesha woman, 83, dies after battling Alzheimers.

Barbara W. Nevins, of Waukesha, died after a struggle with Alzheimers disease Friday, March 30, 2012, at her home.  She was 83.

Barbara was born on Feb. 2, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Andrew and Jane (nee O’Brien) Whalen. She was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago and a 1950 graduate of DePauw University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. On Dec. 29, 1951, she married John Nevins in Chicago.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a 35-year member of the Waukesha Service Club.  Barb enjoyed attending family reunions.

She will be sadly missed by her husband John of Waukesha, along with their children Nancy (Thomas) Gaudion of Laguna Niguel, CA and Tom (Colleen) Nevins of Ventura, CA.  Dear grandmother of Amy (Matt) Neururer of Seattle, WA, Diane Gaudion of Dayton,OH and Jim Gaudion of Indianapolis, IN and Lauren Nevins of Ventura, CA.  She is further survived by other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Sue Ellen Nevins on April 28, 2005, brother Robert and sisters Elizabeth and Phyllis.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1 from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. vigil service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Services continue at the funeral home on Monday, April 2, with prayers beginning at 9:15 a.m. followed by the procession to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha for the 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials in Barbara’s name are appreciated to Catholic Memorial High School, 601 E. College Ave. Waukesha, WI  53186, Waukesha Catholic, 221 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha, WI  53186, or the charity of donor’s choice.
