Obituary: Arlene Kay Scherf

Waukesha woman passes away after long illness.

Arlene Kay Scherf, a lifelong Waukesha resident, passed away peacefully following a long illness on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 68.

She was born in Waukesha on June 9, 1943, the daughter of Steve and Francis (nee Congemi) Italiano.  She was a 1961 graduate of Waukesha South High School.  On Aug. 21, 1965, she married Donald Scherf.  Along with her husband she owned and managed properties throughout the Waukesha area. Arlene was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She enjoyed playing cards and enjoyed many trips, but her greatest joy was her family who was very important to her and she loved dearly.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of almost 47 years, Donald Scherf of Waukesha and their son Donald (Mary) Scherf of Waukesha, her two grandchildren, Joshua and Madeline Scherf of Waukesha, her sisters, Lulu Wagner of Waukesha, Donna Schmidt of Eagle and her brother Jeff (fiancé Ann) Italiano of Oconomowoc.  She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Joyce (Brian) Stocks of Oconomowoc and Dolly Scherf of Dallas, TX, her brother-in-law Fred Scherf of Waukesha along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Ronald Wagner and Emil Scherf.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital for all their kind and gentle care provided to Arlene.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha.  Reverend Bill Key will preside.  Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
