Obituary: Alex "Meho" Gamez, Jr.

Waueksha man dies at age 57.

Alex “Meho” Gamez, Jr., of Waukesha, died on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 57.

He was born in Waukesha on December 27, 1954 the son of Alex and Antonia (nee Del Angel) Gamez, Sr. He was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and worked for GE Medical for 38 years.  He was very active in the community, especially through United Way.  He enjoyed sports especially softball, wrestling and most recently golf. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Meho will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and filling the hearts of all with laughter and love.   

He will be dearly missed by his wife Diane (nee Barker) Gamez of Waukesha, his sons David R. Gamez and his girlfriend Natalie Seidenkranz of Menomonee Falls and Scott A. (Nicole) Gamez of West Allis, his step-sons Troy A. Gamez and his girlfriend Cassandra Dunn and Adam Gamez both of Waukesha, his father and stepmother Alex (Elaine) Gamez, Sr. of Pewaukee, and his four grandchildren Kalena Paddock, Elliana Gamez, Denzel Gamez and Dominic Gamez.  He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Esperanza “Sp” (Jon) Myhre of New Mexico, Mercy (David) Pike of Nashotah, Andy (Dawn) Gamez of West Bend and Abel (Jane) Gamez of West Allis, his step-brother Randy (Sue) Neumann of St. Louis, MO, his step-sister Judy (Rick) Miller of East Troy along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother Antonia Gamez and his son Michael Gamez.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Waukesha Memorial Hospital’s oncology unit, to Dr. Peter Johnson and Dr. Mark Grossklaus as well as to the many nurses who cared for Meho.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.  Visitation continues on Friday, August 17 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1415 Dopp Street, Waukesha from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service.  Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
