Obituary: Alberto Garay

Waukesha man, 63, was known for his hard work and kindness toward others.

Alberto Garay, of Waukesha, died on Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home at the age of 63.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1948, in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of Alberto and Maria Eugenia (nee Vaca) Garay. On Dec. 29, 1984, he married Consuelo (nee Vera) Garay. For 10 years he owned and operated Garay Enterprises where he sold chemicals and janitorial supplies and equipment.  Prior to owning his own business, Alberto worked as a court interpreter at the Waukesha County Courthouse for 20 years. He also worked at La Casa de Esperanza as an instructor for English as a second language and was also involved in the Keys for Success Program and transportation.

Alberto has been a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He had a great love for nature, gardening, animals and was a very good cook.  He loved to talk about the Mojave Desert in California.  He was very artistic and loved working with his hands, especially drawing and doing ceramics.  Alberto was a very hard-working man who will always be remembered for his kind nature and willingness to help others.

He is loved and will be forever missed by his wife Consuelo, of Waukesha, his children Yvette (Ryan) Carson of Victorville, CA, Gary Albert Garay of Los Angeles, CA, Mychelle Garay of Waukesha and Bryan Garay of Waukesha, and his two grandchildren Channing and Darian.  He is further survived by his brothers and sisters Carlos Garay, Rocio Garay, Sergio Agustin (Maria Del Carmen) Garay, Ricardo Garay, Juan Jose (Mercedes) Garay, Maria Eugenia Garay and Maria Concepcion Garay all of Mexico, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral Mass all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha. Alberto will be laid to rest next to his parents in Mexico.
