OBIT: James C. 'Jim' Martin

Former Waukesha man served with Navy during Korean War.

James C. “Jim” Martin, of Germantown, formerly of Waukesha, died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the age of 79.

He was born in Milwaukee on March 29, 1932, the son of Robert and Kathryn (nee Casey) Martin. Jim lived in Waukesha most of his life and was a 1950 graduate of Waukesha High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On Feb. 23, 1957, he married Janet Howard at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jim worked for many years in sales for General Foods (Kraft) until his retirement in 1990.  He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed bowling and when his children were young he never missed their sporting events.  Jim participated in many “Connelly Golf Outings” and was the winner of the Connelly Trophy.  He had a great love for animals. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church both in Waukesha. 

He will be sadly missed by his wife Janet of Germantown and their children:  Bob (Karen) Martin of Middleton, Mike (Gwen) Martin of Minneapolis, MN, and Amy (Bil) DeGrace of Germantown, nine grandchildren: Brendon, Danielle, Ellie, Erica, Maisy, Georgia, Henry, Haley and Hanna.  He is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother Robert “Bud” Martin and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.  Services continue on Saturday, Aug. 27 at the funeral home with prayers beginning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha for the 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Graveside services will immediately follow at
