Erin Voll, 29, Loses Fight to Breast Cancer

Funeral services for Waukesha woman who died after two-year battle with breast cancer will be held Wednesday.

Erin M. Voll, lifelong resident of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at the age of 29 years, after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

Erin was born on Aug. 27, 1983, the daughter of Eddie and Shirley Voll. Erin was in the 2002 Waukesha South graduating class where she enjoyed track and cross-country, vocal and instrumental music. She was a member of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony (viola) while in high school.  Erin went on to graduate with a high honors degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point.  She worked for several years at Joann Fabrics of Pewaukee.  She obtained her veterinary technician license and was currently employed at the Forest Home Animal Clinic in Hales Corners where she shared her life-long love of animals.

Erin will be dearly missed by her parents, Eddie and Shirley; her boyfriend, D. J. Stodola; her dog, Sheena; uncles, Al (Rose) Voll ; Verlyn Johnson and “Uncle Gene and Aunt Sue” who are more family than friends ; grandparents, Elmer (Anna) Voll and Elsie (Theodore) Bleyer.  Erin is further survived by other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theonal and Mildred Johnson and Pauline Voll.

The family would like to thank many people:  the doctors and nurses at ProHealth Care Oncology for their caring and compassion the past two years; the ProHealth hospice team that provided support for Erin while she was in in-home hospice care; Pastor Kathy and Pastor Gary who supported Erin in her fight; Erin’s co‑workers at JoAnn’s and Forest Home Animal Hospital for their support and fundraising efforts; and the many friends, family and neighbors who supported her and her family in so many ways through the two-year battle. 

The visitation for Erin will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the 5 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha, WI 53186.  The Reverend Kathy Boadwine will be officiating. Burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery at a later date.
