Magee Elementary in Genesee Depot Honored with National Blue Ribbon School Award

Magee Elementary in Genesee Depot celebrates receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award for the second time!

Today, Magee Elementary from the Kettle Moraine School District, was honored for the second time, with the U.S. Dept. of Education National Blue Ribbon School Award for 2012. The award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools whose students achieve at very high levels or have made significant progress. A total of 269 schools in the nation received this award in 2012. Magee Elementary is only one of eight schools in Wisconsin and only the second in the state to receive it twice. Magee also received the distinguished award in 1994.

Dianna Kresovic, Magee’s school principal, welcomed distinguished guests during the award ceremony today such as Dr. Tony Evers, Wisconsin’s State Superintendent. Diana Robertson, representing U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, presented the Student Senate with an honor certificate from the Senator. Kettle Moraine School District Superintendent and past Magee parent, Dr. Patricia Deklotz, presented Ms. Kresovic with the Blue Ribbon Award which will be proudly displayed in the school. Other distinguished guests included the KMSD Board Members, past principals, teachers, volunteers and parents.  

The ceremony emphasized the accomplishments of the students and they played a great role in the ceremony. The colors were presented with the assistance of Magee’s Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops and there were musical performances by the school’s band. The highlight was a slide presentation and narration of Magee’s history by its 4th grade students and a choir performance by the 5th grade Choir. The ceremony closed with the student body singing “We are Magee”, the school song.

Ms. Kresovic, along with Magee 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Woyahn, visited Washington, D.C. in November of 2012 for a recognition award ceremony. Congratulations Magee Elementary!
