We Energies CEO is Executive in Residence at Carroll University

The distinguished chairman, president and chief executive officer of We Energies will be Carroll University’s next presenter in the Executive-In-Residence Series. Gale Klappa will share “A Road to the Future: Keys to a Successful and Satisfying Career” on Monday, March 31, 2014.
 
The event is presented by Carroll’s Business, Accounting and Economics Department. It includes networking and cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and Klappa’s lecture at 6 p.m. in the Stackner Ballroom of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha.

Gale E. Klappa is chairman, president and chief executive officer of We
Energies. He brought decades of industry experience when he joined the company in 2003.
 
Under Klappa’s leadership, We Energies has become a national leader in reliability and customer service, and was named America’s most reliable utility in 2013. Over the past 10 years, the company has invested more than $9 billion to improve the region’s energy infrastructure – increasing the company’s generating capacity by 50 percent and reducing emissions by 80 percent.
 
In 2012, Gale was named CEO of the Year by “Electric Light & Power” magazine, and Responsible CEO of the Year by “Corporate Responsibility Magazine.” In 2011, the “Milwaukee Business Journal” named him one of the 10 most influential people in the Milwaukee area. And for four years in a row, he was named to “Institutional Investor” magazine’s All-America Executive team.
 
Klappa is a member of the board of directors of Badger Meter Inc. and Joy Global Inc., and is a director of the Edison Electric Institute and the Electric Power Research Institute.
 
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with cum laude honors in 1972 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2011, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree in recognition of his leadership in shaping southeast Wisconsin’s economic future and his extensive community involvement.
