St. Olaf Band tour stops at Carroll University
Carroll University is proud to host the St. Olaf Band as part of its national tour. The joint performance with Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin will be Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in Shattuck Music Center, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha.

Tour repertoire includes David Maslanka’s “A Child’s Garden of Dreams,” “Scenes from a Life Danced” by Timothy Mahr, “Overture for Band” by John Heins, the second movement from Persichetti’s Symphony No. 6 and Dan Welcher’s “Zion.”

The St. Olaf Band, conducted by Dr. Timothy Mahr, is the oldest music organization at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., a campus internationally renowned for its high caliber of musical ensembles. The band has toured nationally and internationally for more than 100 years, in Norway, Great Britain, Japan, and central Europe, with a Mediterranean tour planned for June 2014. Mahr is a professor of music at St. Olaf College, a nationally recognized composer and principal conductor of the Minnesota Symphonic Winds. For more information, visit www.stolaf.edu/stolafband.
The Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin consists of highly motivated, talented high school students selected by audition for membership. They are led by Dr. Lawrence Dale Harper, founder and principal conductor, Robin Engl, executive director and associate conductor, and Andrew Hacker, associate conductor and director of bands at Waukesha South High School.
