Speaker challenges students to work for change

Like the youth of generations past, Millennials are sensitive to social justice and how they can shape the future. Special guest Paul Loeb will encourage Carroll University students to embrace civic engagement during his visit Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.

Loeb is an author, speaker, and social and political activist. His presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Stackner Ballroom of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public.

Loeb has spent more than 30 years researching citizen responsibility and empowerment – asking what makes some people choose lives of social commitment, while others abstain. He is the author of “The Soul of a Citizen,” “The Impossible Will Take a Little While,” “Generation at the Crossroads,” “Nuclear Culture,” and “Hope in Hard Times.” He lectures at conferences and colleges nationwide.

This event is part of Carroll University’s yearlong exploration of Humanity, an exploration of how war, ethics, science, religion, hunger, abuse and lack of civility affect our humanity, both individually and collectively.
