Italian musicians to perform with Carroll's Wind Symphony

Carroll University’s Wind Symphony will join together with 30 Italian musicians from the City Band of Norcia and the City Band of Bevagna to perform an “Italian Serenade.” The concert, which also features international maestro Filippo Salemmi, will be Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 8 p.m. in Shattuck Music Center, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public.

Guest conductor Salemmi will share the podium with Lawrence Dale Harper, professor of music at Carroll. The serenade includes music from Italian-Americans Vincent Persichetti and Luigi Zaninelli, along with “Be Thou My Vision” by David Gillingham, “Suite in E-Flat” by Gustav Holst, “October” by Eric Whitacre, and “Roma Sacre (Sacred Rome)” by Zaninelli.

Eleven Carroll students will travel to Italy in August 2014 to join the Norcia and Bevagna bands for concerts there, as well as in Germany.
