Carroll Players announce 2013-14 season
The Carroll University Theatre Arts Program and the Carroll Players proudly announce their 2013-2014 season. Both performances are directed by students majoring in theatre arts.

The rock musical “Spring Awakening,” with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, is based on a play of the same name by Frank Wedekind. Set in late 19th century Germany, this angst-ridden musical tells stories of teenagers discovering sexuality. It will be performed Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sophomore Ryan Albrechtson, a theatre arts major from Waukesha, will direct. Due to sexual content and adult language, this show is not appropriate for patrons younger than age 16. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 seniors/Carroll parents/Carroll alumni, and free for students with valid ID.
“Minchin’s” was adapted and directed by senior Trisha Himmler, a theatre arts major from Van Dyne, Wis., as her Capstone project. This is a dark, modern recreation of the 1905 short story “A Little Princess” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Performances are Friday, April 25, 2014, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. This show is not appropriate for patrons younger than age 12. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 seniors/Carroll parents/Carroll alumni, and free for students with valid ID.

The Carroll Players is the oldest active student theater organization in Wisconsin, founded in 1896 when professor May Nickell Rankin directed a group of students in a production of “Richelieu” as part of Commencement weekend activities. The group furthers the artistic, academic and educational concerns of the theatre arts program, recognizes outstanding alumni members and encourages fellowship and growth among members through social and educational activities.
