Carroll photographer selected for juried exhibitions

Selections from a photography series by Jen Moon, assistant professor of art at Carroll University, were accepted into two juried exhibitions.

“I’ve Been There: A Namesake Tour of Iowa” features towns in Iowa with famous names, such as international locations (Jamaica and Rome) or familiar namesakes (Orient and Jefferson), and documents the spaces that give shape and definition to these locales.

From June 28-Aug. 23, Moon showed her photographs in the Michigan Fine Arts Competition Exhibition at Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. It included 105 works of art by 83 artists, selected by juror Brad Durham. The show was an educational opportunity for local, regional and national audiences. Details are at exhibitions.bbartcenter.org.

Moon also will be part of the 2013 Third Coast National exhibition, presented by K Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, Texas. The show consists of 45 works of art by 30 artists that were selected from 525 works submitted by 175 artists. Juror Andy Coolquitt chose “innovative, intelligent works” for this year’s exhibition, which will be displayed Sept. 6-Oct. 18. For more information, visit kspacecontemporary.org.

Moon teaches photography and digital media, and has been a member of Carroll’s faculty since 2010.
