Carroll photographer receives honorable mention

A photograph by Jen Moon, assistant professor of art at Carroll University, was awarded an honorable mention in a competitive national exhibition.

“Toronto, Iowa” is part of the 2013 Third Coast National exhibition. It is a selection from Moon’s photography series, “I’ve Been There: A Namesake Tour of Iowa,” which features towns with famous names, such as international locations (Jamaica and Rome) or familiar namesakes (Orient and Jefferson), and documents the spaces that give shape and definition to these locales.

Presented by K Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, Texas, the show consists of 45 works of art by 30 artists that were selected from 525 works submitted by 175 artists. Selections represent only 8.5 percent of those entered. Juror Andy Coolquitt chose “innovative, intelligent works” for the exhibition, which is on display through Oct. 18, 2013.
