Cloud's lecture marks the inauguration of a new Sociology of Sustainability program in Carroll's sociology major. Developed by Dr. Richard Coon, associate professor of sociology, William Tarman-Ramcheck, adjunct lecturer of sociology, and Dr. Joseph Piatt, associate professor of chemistry and environmental science, the program is an interdisciplinary blend of social sciences and life sciences. In addition to classroom work, students collaborate with community organizations to learn how to live more sustainable lifestyles and to lead sustainable social systems.
