Ed Begley Jr., Actor and Activist, Speaking at Carroll University

Ed Begley Jr., an actor and an environmental activist, will speak at Carroll University at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

Ed Begley Jr., an actor widely known for his role on the former television show "St. Elsewhere" and now an environmental activist, will speak at Carroll University at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

The event, in the auditorium of the Shattuck Music Center, is free and open to the public.

Begley, star of the reality television show "Living with Ed," is one of the keynote speakers during Carroll’s campus-wide theme of Energy, a yearlong exploration of energy in its many forms, from cellular to solar, and from individual to societal and global perspectives. During the 2012-2013 years, Carroll will host a series of presentations, workshops, performances, convocations and other activities that explore energy from a variety of perspectives, including fossil fuel dependence, developing new sources of energy, personal energy, and spiritual energy.

Begley will address the topic of "Energy Efficiency and the Path to Financial Security" and will discuss solar and wind power, fracking and other renewable sources of energy in a practical and humorous way. He is known for ingenious and sometimes humorous efforts to minimize his personal carbon footprint. An activist for the environment and renewable energy, he will offer examples of how our community can be more eco-friendly.   

Begley has appeared in hundreds of films, television shows, and stage performances. He is best known for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series "St. Elsewhere" from 1982-88.
