Community members are invited to join Carroll University students, staff, faculty, President Douglas Hastad and his wife Nancy for a Ride with the President on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Rain date is Sunday, April 28.

Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima will join the ride through central Waukesha. Other local public officials have been invited to join as well.

The free event, part of Carroll’s continuing effort to promote the university as a bike-friendly campus, is intended to raise awareness of biking as an alternate means of transportation, a way to get healthy exercise, and a way to reduce the impact of pollution on the environment.

Riders will take off at 10 a.m. from the parking lot of the Carroll University Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., Waukesha. The route will be: south on East to Laflin, east on Laflin to Charles, north on Charles to McCall, east on McCall to Racine, north on Racine to Broadway, east on Broadway to Oakland, north on Oakland to Main, west on Main to Hartwell, north on Hartwell to White Rock, east on White Rock to Baxter, through Frame Park, then west on Main to Grand, south on Grand to College, east on College to Barstow, north on Barstow to Cook, east on Cook to East, ending at the Campus Center.

The ride is expected to last about 45 minutes.

Participants should register at www.RideWithThePresident.com. The first 75 riders to sign up will receive a free "If it's good enough for Doug, it's good enough for me" T-shirt.

Questions, comments or concerns should be directed to Nikolas Janik at RideWithThePresident@Gmail.com or 262.337.2575.

The event is sponsored by the Carroll University Student Senate and the Carroll Department of Public Safety.    Public Safety officers and Waukesha police will provide support for the ride.
