Kyle Wagner, a 2013 graduate of Carroll University, has received a full scholarship to a master’s degree program at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. Only three of 70 students admitted to the program each year are offered the scholarship.

Wagner will study in Lingnan’s International Banking and Finance master program, specifically in investments. A Brookfield, Wis., resident and finance major at Carroll, he graduated magna cum laude at Carroll’s May 12 Commencement. Wagner, who hopes to become an investment banker for an international firm, also was awarded a $5,000 stipend to serve as the journal editor for Lingnan’s International Banking and Finance Program.

Lingnan University has about 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students. Now a public university, it was founded in Guangzhou in 1888 by the American Presbyterian Church, but moved to Hong Kong about 40 years ago.

Carroll has had a partnership with Lingnan University since March 2008. The partnership has included student and faculty exchanges, and other opportunities for collaboration. Since 2008, Carroll has:
• Welcomed several Lingnan students for a semester or academic year at Carroll.
• Had one Carroll student study at Lingnan for a summer term.
• Hosted 22 Lingnan students for a special science summer program in 2012.
• Had Dr. David Feil, associate professor of mathematics, teach a semester at Lingnan in 2011.
• Had two faculty members teach during Lingnan's summer session – Phil Krejcarek, professor of art, in 2011 and Amy Cropper, associate professor of art, in 2012.
• Had Carroll graduate Melody Buckholt hired as an English tutor for the 2010-2011 academic year.
