Annual Take Back the Night will be at Carroll on Sept. 26

Take Back the Night, an annual event to raise awareness about the problem of sexual and domestic violence, and to support survivors, will be held on the Carroll University campus on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on the lawn in front of Main Hall, 120 N. East Ave., or in the Stackner Ballroom of the Campus Center, 101 N. East Ave., if weather requires. It is free and open to the public.

Take Back the Night is presented by Carroll University Student Affairs, Carroll Greek Life, Carroll’s Walter Young Center and The Women’s Center of Waukesha. The event will include a survivor speak-out, a candlelight vigil and a short march around the neighborhood.

Another event at noon Friday, Sept. 27, will address similar issues. “Facilitating Healing: Community Response to Sexual Assault,” will be in the Stackner Ballroom of the Campus Center. Panelists include a detective from the Sensitive Crimes Unit of the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, a sexual assault nurse examiner, a counselor and a family advocate from The Women’s Center, and a sexual assault survivor. This event also is free and open to the public.
