Get dirty August 17th&18th at the Dirty Girl Mud Run!

Lake Country Family Fun is getting down and dirty with Dirty Girl Mud Run!

The days of August 17th and 18th are bound to be full of muddy fun for many women in South Eastern Wisconsin.  That is right, the Dirty Girl Mud Run is headed our way!  I ran the race last year on a whim, I decided in February and told my Sister in Law Kate and then a Mom at our kid's preschool and a few other friends and the team Chasing Bacon was formed!  The wacky name came from my maiden name (Chase) and Kate's maiden name (Bacon), we worked with what we had.  After a few calls Kate and I had gathered 8 more  fun loving friends to get muddy with.  I called my best friend and she decided that it was bound to be fantastic weekend and she packed her bags and left Maryland to join us here and run the race.

I have been give the opportunity to be a Dirty Girl Blog Ambassador, how cool is that?  This years Dirty Girl Mud Run will be at the Waukesha Country Fairgrounds, the first waves start at 8am and the last wave begins at 4pm.

This a ladies only event, all women are invited who are 14 and older, did you know that the oldest participants have been in their 80's!  Dirty Girl isn't just all about the mud, they are on track to donate $250,000 to Bright Pink, a non-profit organization who are dedicated to the early prevention of breast cancer and ovarian cancer in young women.  Dirty Girl's dedication to those dealing with cancer doesn't end there, cancer survivors can run the race for free.  What a great way to say 'screw you cancer' than doing something that months or years ago you never thought you might would be able to do, run a 5K mud run.

There are 12 obstacles through the race, some harder than others, but team work makes all of them possible.  I felt my major accomplishment was that not only did I run a 5K, but I did EVERY single obstacle and I honestly couldn't have been prouder of myself.

My tips to the Dirty Girl Mud Run are-

  • Bring towels for after the run
  • Bring shoes you are willing to donate after the race (trust me I couldn't get rid of mine quick enough after the run
  • Flip Flops for after the race/showering off
  • Liquid Soap for washing off
  • Washcloths
  • Baby wipes for the dirt you miss
  • If you leave straight from there bring trash bags to cover your car seats.
  • Trash bags to put your muddy clothes in after the race
  • A Change of clothes
  • SUNSCREEN!
  • Sunglasses that you aren't worried about damaging.
  • Don't wear cotton pants, unless you want them falling down after the first obstacles.
  • Your photo ID (you need it to check in and if  you would like an adult beverage when you are done)
  • A fantastic attitude
