United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(October 23, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Cookie Sellers at the World’s Greatest Cookie Sale - Pewaukee

We need cookie sellers for The World's Greatest Cookie Sale on Friday, November 29th, 2013 ("Black Friday.") Just a few hours of your time is needed to work our booth at Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee. All you need to bring is a smiling face and holiday cheer. It is also helpful if you can easily figure costs on multiple packages of cookies and return change. Must be 18 or older. If you have a child 13-18 you would like to bring, they may help at ARCh's Youth Team booth at which they can help younger children decorate cookies. You may work just a couple of hours or the whole thing; it is up to you.

Mentors Needed at Area Schools – Waukesha

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee is seeking adult volunteers to mentor elementary-aged children in structured school settings in the City of Waukesha. Male and female mentors, aged 18 and older is in need. In this school-based program, volunteers (Bigs) who have been matched with a child (Little) meet weekly for a minimum of one hour either during the school day or after school. Together, the volunteer mentor and the child concentrate on academic achievement, recreational activities and emotional development. "Bigs" and "Littles" are matched together based on similar interests and values. Each site’s staff coordinator provides adult oversight, planned activities, direct match support and outcome measurement.

Administrative/Office Volunteer - Brookfield

The friendly staff at our Brookfield, Mequon and Racine offices are looking for trusty helping hands to perform various administrative and clerical functions around our office. Volunteers may help on the computer, make packets, assist with mailings, copying, filing, or help keep us organized in many other ways. A friendly, helpful attitude and professional demeanor are what we're looking for. Our offices are open 8:00am to 4:30 pm daily. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word a plus but not at all required.

Drive Grandma to the Doctor – Waukesha

Volunteers are needed to help transport a senior or an adult with a disability who cannot drive to the doctor, grocery store, bank or pharmacy due to physical limitations. Your time and smile will be so very appreciated by the client you are helping out. Dates and times vary, based on the client's needs. You tell us your schedule and preferred community, and we will only call you for those clients and times that match! This opportunity is perfect for those volunteers who aren't interested in leading a fundraiser, but prefer to make a quiet difference in the life of someone who needs help. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old, must have own transportation, valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
