United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(October 23, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Research or Collections Support – Waukesha

Work with the Curator or Archivist in collection development, verification, organization, and item specific research for exhibit or departmental use. Assist the Archivist and the public with research requests on various local history topics including genealogy and property research. Customer service and computer skills (use of specialized museum computer software) are desired as is a willingness to complete seemingly minor tasks like photocopying, scanning, and inventory.

Help Clean up Graffiti – Nashotah

Help clean graffiti off the Nashotah barn! Someone has painted graffiti all over the barn at Nashotah Park and we are looking for a small group of volunteers to help clean it up. This is a great way to help your community and spend some time outside.

Christmas Toy Sorter and Distributor – Sussex

Sussex is again helping to spread the good cheer. Volunteers are needed to get ready for our Christmas distribution! This year it's at St. James church on Fri. Dec. 13. From 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This is a great group opportunity. You will be on your feet for much of the day and have the ability to make decisions about where toys should be sorted based on age and gender. If you are available for the whole day, lunch will be provided. You must be 18 or older and able to stand for the majority of your shift.

Amazing Autumn Event – Waukesha

Be a Girl Scout Event Volunteer and share your passion, have fun, and positively impact girls' lives. Activities are already created and materials provided. Assist or lead a group of 15-20 girls grades K-1. Enjoy the many colors and food of fall. Make a sweet fall treat, design an apple print tote, and take a hike.
Dates are Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 9. Events may require additional set up and clean up time, beyond the scheduled event. Staff will provide a detailed confirmation prior to the event. Volunteers must be a minimum age of 18 years old. All volunteers must complete a brief application and background check

Walk MS Committee Member – Menomonee Falls

The committee is responsible for assisting the site chair with event logistics, marketing, sponsorships and day of implementation. Each walk is an event that is fully developed and executed by committed, enthusiastic volunteers who believe in the National MS Society's mission to create a world free of MS. Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week (more during month leading up to the event)
