United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(September 25, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Male Hygiene Program Volunteer, Waukesha

We are looking for preferably a male volunteer to monitor our Hygiene program on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1-3 p.m. This would involve greeting homeless men, helping get them hygiene products, check bags, monitor to be sure the men are where they are supposed to be, help them complete paperwork - intake paper with a short survey. Anyone who volunteers must complete a volunteer application and pass a background check.

Drivers, Packers and Dining Assistants, Waukesha County

We are looking for individuals to assist with several aspects of our program, including delivering and packing meals and assisting with our dining services. Drivers are needed to deliver meals once a week or twice a month to seniors living in Waukesha County. Help is needed from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm week-days and training and mileage reimbursement are provided. Our Senior Dining Centers can also use a hand with registration, setting up meals, serving, packing meals for home delivery and clean up. Volunteers can help out once a week or twice a month from 9:30 am-1:00 pm., weekdays. Programs are held in Waukesha, Oconomowoc and Menomonee Falls. Leadership Mission Group Advisors, New Berlin

Volunteers are needed to guide girls in grades 4-5 as they discover the leader within themselves, connect with other girls throughout Southeastern Wisconsin, and take action in their communities. Volunteers are needed one evening per month from October through May. There will be two advisors per team. The advisor for this leadership group would work with girls to set their goals for the year, help create a plan to reach these goals, and guide them throughout the process. If you have an interest in guiding the leaders of tomorrow, this would be a great role for you! Requirements: Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old. You must have strong communication skills and feel comfortable in giving guidance and suggestions to both adults and girls.

Volunteer Receptionist, Waukesha

Becoming a volunteer receptionist is a great way to learn about all of the happenings at Retzer Nature Center first hand! The volunteer will assist by sitting at the reception desk, answering phone calls, and greeting the public. Various duties may include: covering the front desk area while staff are in meetings or at lunch, filing, gift shop inventory, assisting education naturalists with program materials, mailings, and other various duties as assigned. Volunteers must be 18 or older and have a friendly, personable demeanor. Those interested must be available during the lunch hour on Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 11 am to 1 pm, on a regular basis.
