United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities
(November 20, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:
Searching for Santa - Brookfield
Love Pets? Love Christmas? We are searching for Santa! We have two up coming opportunities for pet photos with Santa, and we need volunteer help to play Santa and pose with pets at Petsmart in Brookfield. You can do a whole day or just one shift. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Grant Writing and Research Extern - Waukesha
This externship opportunity will focus on researching and writing grant applications for United Way in Waukesha County Community Impact initiatives, Helping Kids Succeed and Financial Stability, as well as general campaign grants. The extern will also assist in researching Community Impact work and funding at other United Ways and organizations throughout the nation. The extern is responsible for assisting in overseeing grant application timelines and other duties as directed by the Manager of Community Impact. This is an unpaid position; however, student may receive course credit.
Pianist - Waukesha
Come and delight the guests of our adult day program by sharing your talents on the piano! You are needed to play for an "Elder Sing-a-Long"; activity staff will provide assistance. Volunteers are welcome Monday through Friday between 10:45-11:30am or 2:15-3:00pm. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult and able to commit to coming once a month. Volunteers must be friendly, respectful, patient, and have a sense of humor.
Telephone Receptionist - Eagle
Friendly volunteers with cheerful voices are needed to help out with answering incoming calls at Old World Wisconsin. Volunteers will take messages when appropriate, answer questions of a general nature about the museum activities or transfer calls to the appropriate department. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 10am - 5pm daily. Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old and complete an application process that includes a basic background check.
Friendly Visit – Waukesha County
If you are compassionate and motivated, our Friendly Visitor Program is perfect for you! The friendly visitor provides support for older adults who may not have friends or family nearby. Friends spend at least one hour a week visiting their assigned client or taking them out in the community. Mileage reimbursement is provided. Volunteers must be 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance. An application is required and we do background checks.
