United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(January 2, 2014)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Sweetheart Dance – Oconomowoc
Come help out at a fun Valentine’s Day event. This evening is geared towards kids 10 and younger as well as their families. It includes a DJ, bounce house, crafts, cake walk and much more. Volunteers would help with these activities. Volunteers should be high school aged or older.

Tour Guides – Waukesha
Tour themes range from the Civil War, Springs Era, to modern technology and the earliest days of our county's settlement. You needn't be an expert on history, we provide you with all the information. Want to try something new and rewarding? Become a tour guide for the Waukesha County Museum! Shifts vary from 2 to 3 hours Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 10:00am to 4:30pm. Ages 16 and up may apply.

Administrative Office Volunteer - Brookfield
Brookfield hospice location is looking for trusty helping hands to perform various administrative and clerical functions around the office. Volunteers may help on the computer, make packets, assist with mailings, copying, filing, or help keep us organized in many other ways. A friendly, helpful attitude and professional demeanor are what we're looking for. The offices are open 8:00am to 4:30 pm daily. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word a plus but not at all required.

Pet Visitor and Companion - Waukesha
Do you have a lovable pet that you would like to share with others? Are you and your pet available Monday through Friday any time between 9:30-11:00am or 1:30-3:00pm? If you are, please come visit us at our adult day care center and bring in your pet for a friendly visit. Visits are usually scheduled for a half hour. Volunteers must be a minimum age of 18 years old. Pet should have completed obedience and/or pet therapy course and have proof of training and updated shots.

Meal Drivers – Various Locations
Drivers are needed to deliver meals once a week or twice a month to seniors living in Waukesha County. Receiving this meal allows home bound older adults to live longer in their own home. It also helps seniors receive proper nutrition and maintain their independence. Help is needed from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm week-days in the following locations: Brookfield, Butler, Hartland, Menomonee Falls, Mukwonago, Muskego, New Berlin, Oconomowoc, Sussex and Waukesha. Individuals, couples, friends and neighbors can do this together. Training and mileage reimbursement is provided.
