United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(August 21, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

WagFest 2013, Brookfield

We are looking for volunteers to help us with our BIGGEST Fundraiser of the year; Wagfest! Wagfest is an all day event on Saturday September 7th, 2013. This a great opportunity for volunteers that are looking a for hours in a short period of time that requires minimal training. We a great need for help with Set-Up on Friday Evening 09/6/13 from 3pm-6pm, Set-Up on Saturday Morning from 8am-11am, and Clean-Up On Saturday Evening from 5pm-until finished. We also still have some openings for day of event volunteers to help with parking, selling food/beverage tickets, lure coursing, the puptini lounge and more from 10:45am-5pm.Youth Volunteers ages 12-15 welcome: every 2 youth volunteers MUST be accompanied by 1 adult volunteer. Set Up and Clean Up Volunteers must be able to do physical work.

School Drop Copying and Counting Assistant, Waukesha

Every other month during the school year, the YMCA sends out information to every elementary school regarding upcoming child and youth programs. Volunteers are needed to help with the copying and counting of the fliers, as well as delivering the fliers to local schools (optional). Volunteers are needed the week of September 17th.This opportunity would be perfect for anyone looking for a simple but helpful volunteer project! Copying and counting can be done at volunteer's convenience.

Apple Harvest Festival - Pie Making Assistance, Waukesha

The Apple Harvest Festival is held in Waukesha at Retzer Nature Center. Assistance is needed in preparing crumb topping for the pies that are baked and sold at the festival. Shifts are available on Thursday 9/19 and Friday 9/20 for the following shifts: 8-11am, 11am-2pm or 2-5pm. All volunteers will receive a free entrance pass for the festival on Saturday 9/21.Volunteers are needed to assist in the preparation and assembly of pies. This is a great opportunity for to help celebrate the apple harvest season!

Goodwill Sale at Boston Store Donation Attendant, Waukesha

Help make the Goodwill Sale at the Boston Stores a success. We need volunteers to accept donations from customers who bring in their gently used clothing and household linens. Distribute one Boston Store discount coupon for every item donated. We need two volunteers for each 3 to 4 hour shift. The sale is scheduled for September 19 - October 5, 2013. Hours are 10am to 9pm on Monday - Saturday and 11am to 7pm on Sundays. Sign up early and choose your shift. The Boston Stores in Grand Avenue, Bayshore, Mayfair, Southridge, Brookfield and Racine are participating in the sale. This event greatly benefits Goodwill by dramatically increasing the pounds of textiles donated to our Retail Store and Donation Centers which in turn supports programs and services for persons having disabilities and other barriers to employment. Requirements: Minimum age is 13 years and older. Volunteers need to be friendly and polite towards customers. The job requires some physical activity such as lifting bags and reaching/bending to place the donations in the receptacles.
