(August 2, 2013)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Special Event Mailing, The Wisconsin Philharmonic, Waukesha

The Wisconsin Philharmonic is in need of help stuffing and stamping envelopes for our Annual Kick Off Event! It is a great way to socialize with other community members. There will be coffee and tea provided. We will be meeting on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10am in The Wisconsin Philharmonic office at 234 W. Main Street, Waukesha, WI 53187.

Family Day Helpers for Camp Yellow Ribbon, Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin, Oconomowoc

We have a need for 5 helpers for Family Day, 8/16/13, from 10am to 1pm. Help set up for the awards banquet, grill/serve food to campers and their families and assist with clean up. Camp Yellow Ribbon provides a fun and educational outlet for children in military families, from all service branches. The goal of this specialized camp is to help them to learn how to cope with the challenges of having a family member who is deployed or has returned from overseas. Our goal is to create a memorable camp experience and an exciting week of outdoor fun and adventure while allowing campers the opportunity to gather and learn in a safe place, vent their fears and frustrations and to meet other children who are experiencing similar challenges. Camp Yellow Ribbon also gives campers opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate the military experience.

Harvest Hoedown – Activity Assistant, Goodwill Industries of SE Wisconsin, Waukesha

Spend time with adults with special needs as they dance the night away at our Harvest Hoedown. Goodwill On the Move is a recreation program for adults with developmental disabilities who want to put a little "kick" in their weekends. We are seeking volunteers to assist with decorating, serving food and encouraging people on the sidelines to get out on the dance floor and have some fun. The dance will be held on Saturday, November 16 in the evening. Volunteers are needed for set up from 4:00-6:00, the dance is from 6:00-8:30, and clean up is from 8:30-9:30. Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old, social and mature with a desire to show participants that they are valued. A mandatory 30 minute orientation will be provided prior to your shift.

Safety Town Volunteers, Pewaukee Park & Recreation, Pewaukee

Volunteers are needed to assist with running our Safety Town program for children ages 4-5 years old. Volunteers will be responsible for a group of 10 children and will assist them with program materials. The program is being held Tuesday-Friday, August 13-16 from 9:00 am until 12:15 pm each day. Volunteers must have experience working with children, must be available for the entire duration of the program and must be able to lead a group with a script.
