Fashion Week MKE

More fashion events are coming to Milwaukee!

Β Wren Solares, event planner, has a vision. She wants to bring more fashion events to Milwaukee (I whole heartedly agree). Β To bring this vision to pass, Wren decided to create an event called Fashion Week Milwaukee www.fashionweekMKE.com which, in the future will become a week long fashion event for fashion lovers. The target market is all Milwaukee folks that enjoy fashion and style.

The initial event was at the Moct, where she also holds other public events. The event included quite a few different vendors who sold everything from vintage clothes to purses to the latest fashion. There was also a cake pop vendor who was providing free samples (yum). It was a fun time to just get together, talk, laugh and look for treasures. Also included were models that walked around and showed fashion available.

Β Fashion Week Milwaukee attendance was about 300 people through the door, with about 100 people arriving Β prior to 11am which is usually unheard of on a Sunday (event hours were 10am-3pm). Β The first 100 people got gift bags which may be one reason for the early high number of people. The early bird gets the worm!

Since this event was successful, Wren is planning to do the event quarterly so that boutiques,Β  fashion stylists, photographers Β and other fashion providers can get together and offer fashion lovers a fun time of looking at the fashion in MKE and what is up and coming for the following months. Each time will raise money for charity and include some great giveaways. Β

Looking to the future, there are plans to do a whole fashion week in September (which is the timeframe of the semi -annual fashion week in New York). This will include things like a Fashion Crawl where ladies can buy tickets for mini buses that will take them to boutiques around the areas with special events on, sales, etc. Β There will also be classes through the week such as sewing courses, makeup classes, stylist seminars and more. Β Wren wants to keep them affordable so everyone can take part. Β There is definitely a need for this in Milwaukee.

Michael Damond, president and creative director of www.fashionablemags.com will be collaborating with Wren to create Fashion Week MKE in September which will include a fashion show in September, New York style. If you haven’t checked out www.fashionablemags.com yet, you need to. It’s a new online fashion magazine that is a lot of fun and filled with valuable information for both the fashion professional and fashion lover.

Milwaukee definitely needs more fashion events and opportunities for people from all walks of life to take part in and enjoy. These fashion events are just what the doctor (of fashion) ordered.
