Trinity Academy Wins State Championship Field Hockey

The Trinity Academy Sentinels won the Field Hockey State Championship Saturday afternoon, 1-0 in overtime, against powerhouse Arrowhead Union High School.

The Trinity Academy Sentinels won the State Championship Saturday afternoon, 1-0 in overtime against powerhouse Arrowhead Union High School, of Hartland.

The winning  goal was scored by Junior Kristin Collins, No. 15. Kristin dribbled the ball down and across the field by herself, and scored on her first shot in overtime.

This accomplishment is especially remarkable, since Trinity Academy, an independent school  in the Catholic tradition, has a total enrollment of 45 students in the High School! This compares to powerhouse Arrowhead, with enrollment of 2,300! Trinity and Arrowhead had been extremely closely matched in the season, with both having 13 wins, 1 loss, 2 ties, and having scored 28 points each in the regular season.

Credit goes out to Head Coach Elizabeth Mitchell, and assistant Coach Samantha
Strub, who discovered and cultivated this incredible talent from such a small
school. Trinity also beat University School of Milwaukee Varsity Reserve, and
Divine Savior Holy Angels, in the State Tournament.

The Sentinels were also Conference Champions, and are part of the Wisconsin High School Field Hockey Association, with competitors including Brookfield Academy, University School of Milwaukee, Divine Savior Holy Angels,  Kettle Moraine High School, Kettle Moraine, University Lake School, and Wayland Academy.
