Help HAWS Reach our $10,000 Goal...and Save Lives!

HAWS has been given the challenge to raise $10,000...and save more lives, too!

An anonymous donor has challenged HAWS to raise $10,000 in matching funds. We have just 58 days left to meet our goal!

According to the Humane Society of the United States, millions of animals are euthanized each year because of behavioral problems. They are surrendered to shelters for barking too much, chewing, pulling on a leash and for aggressive demeanors.

"At HAWS, we're not going to accept that - we're changing the fate of shelter dogs,"says Lynn Olenik, HAWS' Executive Director. "It's all about rehabbing them, and our Behavior Department’s Mod Squad program gives us hope."

TheMod Squad, and has saved over 637 dogs in just four years, with a 91% success rate. Dogs like Kenya, a Mod Squad pupil, spend their time at HAWS learning basic manners and correcting unwanted behaviors to make them great members of the family.

But, everything comes at a cost. The price tag to get one dog through the program is $60. It doesn't seem like much, but multiply that $60 times the number of dogs that have graduated and found homes thus far (637)...and that equates to $38,220!

"A life shouldn't have a price tag on it," notes Lynn Olenik. "We applaud this anonymous donor who has offered this challenge grant to help change the fate of many animals who had been given up on. With the public's help, we can match the donor's grant and save even more lives and continue this life-saving program."

By the way – HAWS annual Bunny Day is THIS Sunday! Learn all there is to know about rabbits as pets, ask questions of bunny experts and meet adoptable rabbits. All the details are at hawspets.org.
