International Women's Day

On Thursday, March 8, 2012 staff and friends of The Women’s Center will meet at 12 p.m. on the bridge at Barstow and Corrina Blvd., in Waukesha, to celebrate International Women’s Day. We will promote awareness and call for an end of violence against women in war-torn countries and across the world by coming together, displaying banners, and making a short presentation. The public is invited to this ½-hour event, to celebrate unity and stand up for peace and hope for women worldwide.

Women for Women International campaign, “Join Me on the Bridge” (www.joinmeonthebridge.org) asks women, children and men to join together on International Women’s Day on bridges throughout the world, to make a public statement that “Stronger Women Build Bridges of Peace.” Last year there were 464 events in 70 countries.
