Chinese New Year + FREE + Lion Dance Show

Chinese New Year, the year of the horse is on January 31, 2014, Golden Gate Restaurant 1427 E Racine Ave, Waukesha, WI will be ringing in the Chinese New Year on Saturday February 1st at 2:00 PM - 3:00PM with a (FREE) Lion Dance Show with music, firecrackers and lucky money ($1's, $5's, $10's, $20's and $100's while they last).  The event will be held in the parking lot and inside the restaurant, (there will be 5 lions outside and 2 lions inside), state senator Paul Farrow will be speaking at the opening of the event and lighting of the firecrackers.

The Lion Dance slow will be performed by the ShaoLin Center's.

Chinese New Year is celebrated with fireworks, lion dancing, drums and cultural performances on the streets, the dancing and drums help scare away the evils from the pass and bring in the good for the new year.  The Horse can run very swiftly and provide the ride for people. It was a good transportation to bring people to their destination. Therefore, Chinese treat horse as an auspicious symbol for speedy success.  Some interesting celebrities born under the horse are Rembrandt, Teddy Roosevelt, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery and John Travolta.

Golden Gate Restaurant has been in Waukesha for over 34 years, moving in from downtown Milwaukee as Lotus Restaurant 1939-1979.  Golden Gate has won many awards like the "Top 10 Chinese Restaurant in America" in 2010, AList 2007-2013 and CitySearch 2010-2011
