City of Waukesha Meetings

The Business Improvement District showdown is heading to a public hearing as more than 60 percent of the property owners in downtown Waukesha are asking to dissolve the special taxing district.

The hearing is being held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday before the Waukesha Plan Commission.

Other meetings:

• The Police and Fire Commission meets at 5 p.m. where they will be in closed session to review applications for the Waukesha fire chief search. The meeting will be held at Fire Station No. 1.
• A public unveiling of Waukesha West High School’s photography exhibit at City Hall will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
• Waukesha Common Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday where a public hearing will be held about the possibility of regulating the number of payday lenders in Waukesha. The council will also recognize the passing of former Waukesha Mayor Joe LaPorte.
• Board of Public Works meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to discuss a snow removal bill from two Waukesha residents who is claiming the city removed the snow for 40 years because the property at Pewaukee Road and West Moreland Boulevard is city owned via public right of way.

All City of Waukesha meetings are held at City Hall, 201 Delafield St., unless otherwise stated.

School District of Waukesha

Board work session at 6 p.m. Thursday for discussion and planning for employee early retirement benefits at 222 Maple Ave.

Events

The third annual Chair-ity auction takes place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Summit View Elementary School. While featuring furniture treasures, this event has more with a spaghetti dinner and a silent auction.

Oklahoma! kicks off Friday at the Waukesha Civic Theatre. Set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, this is the story of Curly and Laurey, a handsome cowboy and a romantic farm  girl. Through misunderstandings, jealousy, aspirations, and fears, love triumphs for Curly and Laurey in the brand new state of Oklahoma!
