Waukesha Grocery Stores Pull Recalled Peanut Butter off Shelves

Recall extends to Skippy reduced fat products.

Area grocery stores have pulled the recalled Skippy reduced fat peanut butter products off the shelves after the recall was announced on Sunday.

Managers at Sentry Foods on Meadowbrook Road and at Pick ‘N Save at 220 E. Sunset Drive confirmed Monday afternoon that the peanut butter was pulled from the store’s grocery shelves.

The Skippy reduced fat creamy peanut butter spread and Skippy reduced fat super chunk peanut butter spread are being recalled because the peanut butter may have become contaminated with Salmonella, according to a news release. No other Skippy products are affected by the recall.

The products that are being recalled, which is packaged in 16.3-ounce plastic jars, are:

  • UPCs: 048001006812 and 048001006782 (located on the side of the jar’s label below the bar code.)
  • Best-If-Used-By Dates: MAY1612LR1, MAY1712LR1, MAY1812LR1, MAY1912LR1, MAY2012LR1 and MAY2112LR1 (Stamped on the lid of the jar.)

No illness has been reported due to the contamination, according to the release, and the issue was found during a routine sampling of the product.

People who have the recalled peanut butter should throw it out and contact the company at 1-800-453-3432 for a replacement coupon. Customer service representatives are available from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
