Waukesha Farmers' Market Starts 2013 Season Saturday

More than 100 vendors will be featured at this year's Waukesha Farmers' Market, which is being run by the Downtown Business Association.

With more than 100 vendors planned for the Waukesha Farmers’ Market, the 2013 season is beginning Saturday in downtown Waukesha near the riverwalk.

The Waukesha Farmers’ Market runs each Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon from May through October. While run in past years by the Business Improvement District – which is disbanding – the Downtown Business Association is running the market this season.

“The number keeps on growing,” said Norm Bruce, who is on the Waukesha Farmers’ Market Committee. “We are starting a waiting list of people who want to come to the market.”

The Waukesha Farmers’ Market is building its online presence this year, Bruce said. The website has a list of vendors at the market, what the vendors sell and where to find the vendors on market day.

The Waukesha Farmers’ Market will also have a variety of education demonstrations from cooking to gardening, according to Bruce.

The Downtown Business Association plans to encourage people who are shopping at the Waukesha Farmers’ Market to check out the shops in downtown Waukesha before leaving the area for the day. Additionally, music stages at Freeman Friday Night Live will encourage people to attend the Waukesha Farmers’ Market in the morning.
